MNZ Appoints Coordinator for Its Auckland Office

Kia ora, my name is Wilma Cupido. I am a Narrative Therapist, AOD clinician, teacher  and activist who has been working with communities for more than thirty years.

I am the Auckland Regional coordinator for Multicultural New Zealand.
Multicultural New Zealand a national organization representing multicultural councils throughout New Zealand and national councils for women, youth, seniors and business.  We offer a collective voice for multicultural councils and ethnic, migrant and refugee communities and provide advice to government and civil society on multicultural policy and practice. We work in partnership with other national organizations and foster collaboration to promote cultural diversity.
We deliver a range of programmes including multicultural education and training, multicultural sports, settlement support programmes, youth activities and community capacity building. Two of our flagship annual activities are the Race Relations Celebration and the national ethnic football tournament. We also have OWD Socks campaign a new initiative which seeks to raise awareness and eliminate all forms of discrimination in New Zealand, including but not limited to culture, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disabilities and all other forms of discrimination.
The challenge for NZFMC is to provide an opportunity for people from all segments of New Zealand’s diverse society to address the challenges facing our multicultural communities of the 21st century.
NZFMC is committed to raise consciousness among ethnic communities of the needs, aspirations and status of Maori as tangata whenua of Aotearoa.
In my role as regional coordinator my hope is to link up with likeminded organizations to build and maintain key relationships including ethnic migrant and refugee communities, women, youth, stakeholders and volunteers and strategic partners.
I invite individuals to contact me via email:  wilma.cupido@mnz.org.nz to talk through ways in which we could work together.

Love and blessings

Wilma Cupido
