Women's Council

About the Women's Council

Each Regional Council is encouraged to send a Women’s Representative to NZFMC’s tri-annual conferences. The WC meets separately from the main conference to discuss matters of interest, advocacy, and information. The WC continues to support the main goals of the Federation in its attempt to build a multicultural society based on biculturalism. The WC’s methodology is collaborative, and we continue to celebrate diversity and will be gearing itself up to assist with several matters raised in the Federation’s Strategic Plan. Social networking is also an important focus over the coming year.  The WC’s aim is to give ethnic women a voice, and to be an advocate for positive change.  It is our belief that women teaming together can help improve the position of not only themselves but that of their whanau/families. To this end, one of the first moves of the WC has been to ratify its own Charter.
