MNZ Partners with SSPA for "Working Effectively with Culture"

Multicultural NZ is partnering with Social Service Providers Aotearoa (SSPA) to roll out a professional training workshop called Working Effectively with Culture. The programme is an interactive and fun 1-day course that empowers participants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to operate effectively in an increasingly multicultural world.

The programme has been designed by Centre for Applied Cross-cultural Research (CACR) at Victoria University and licence Multicultural NZ to deliver to NGOs and Community groups. Working Effectively with Culture is underpinned by CACR’s extensive research into cultural competency and the training provided is scientifically-robust.

The program helps participant’s recognise their own cultural lens, how to engage more positively with people from different backgrounds, and uses real-time activities to test and extend the cultural competency skills learnt.

As New Zealand continues to become culturally, ethnically, linguistically and religiously diverse, the need for cultural competency skills is becoming more critical to every organisation and particularly those who employ or engage directly with ethnic, migrant and refugee communities in New Zealand.

The roll out of Working Effectively with Culture follows a very successful pilot delivered to managers of the Wellington branch of New Zealand Family Budgeting Services. Your organisation too can benefit from this 1-day course by growing your cultural capital - making better employees, fostering greater respect, providing better customer service, improving staff retention, reducing conflict , reducing costly misunderstandings, and ultimately making for a more effective and efficient organisation.

Please contact us if your organisation would like to run Working Effectively with Culture professional training workshop for your staff. If requested a subsidized rate can be made available for not-for-profit organizations. For further information please email to info@mnz.org.nz
