In the past 2 years, Multicultural New Zealand has been repositioning itself to better connect with the ethnic migrant and refugee communities at the grassroots and strengthen our engagement with the governmental and non-governmental agencies. The new “hub” website is another giant set to achieving our strategic goal – a collective voice of ethnic, migrant and refugee communities and to inform and advise government, organizations and the general public on multicultural policy and practice. We are excited with this new way of engaging with our communities as we look forward to another 25 years.
We live in a changing world with many challenges and fantastic opportunities. For example, as multicultural communities grow, so does our need to connect with each other and share our news, events, ideas and resources. It helps us gain better understandings, assists us all to share the work and builds pride for each group and community.
Incidentally you might have noticed that the Federation’s primary role is to promote, support and share information among the Regional Councils and New Zealand's Ethnic Communities.
So that’s what this website is designed to help achieve. But it will take time to grow and build value.
So we want your support. One big place anyone associated with an ethnic community or project can do immediately, is post an event directly into this website, here. It just needs to be an event you wish to promote to the public and be relevant to any ethnic communities. Once uploaded, the website administrator will verify the event as legitimate and make it live.
We hope you enjoy this website and keep coming back to comment and contribute.
