Multicultural New Zealand (MNZ) encourages recent migrants to participate in the ANZAC memorial services around the country
Media Release I 24 April 2018
Each year on 25 April – Anzac Day – New Zealanders remember those who have served and died in war. It’s a tradition that dates back to the First World War, 100 years ago. To explain the history of the day and its significance to New Zealand today, the First World War Centenary Programme Office (WW100) has created some brief Anzac Day guides, available in English, Simplified Chinese, Sāmoan and Hindi http://ww100.govt.nz/a-guide-to-anzac-day. MNZ President Pancha Narayanan encourages recent migrants to participate in the Anzac memorial services around the country. In doing so, we acknowledge and pay respects to those forebears who have given their lives to make this country safe for us and our descendants. While migrants may not have a personal connection to this day of remembrance, they will understand the impact that war has had on the local communities where they live.
