The Neighbourly Morning Tea
Please join us this Labour Weekend to celebrate New Zealand's cultural and ethnic diversity and the contribution to our communities made by migrants, newcomers and refugees, by hosting a Neighbourly Morning Tea.
In the face of a housing crisis, immigration concerns and the plight of refugees, we feel it is time to celebrate the immensely positive role migrant communities play in making New Zealand a wonderful place to live.
While there are numerous cultural celebrations taking place throughout the year (Mataariki, Diwali, Chinese New Year etc), this celebration will focus on neighbourhoods and all the people who live within them – asking individuals, households and work places to celebrate their people, on a local level with a simple morning tea.
The Neighbourly Morning Tea, to be held in October around Labour Weekend, is promoted by Multicultural Zealand, affiliated Regional Multicultural Councils, New Zealand Newcomers Network and associate organisations as a fundraising event, the funds of which will allow the Federation and its member councils to be the voice of multicultural New Zealand year round, both celebrating cultural diversity and reminding.
You are welcome to join us this Labour Weekend to celebrate New Zealand’s cultural and ethnic diversity and the contribution to our communities made by migrants, by hosting a most Neighbourly Morning Tea.
Registered hosts will be provided with everything they need to host a morning tea from Bell Tea Company and coffee from Jed's Coffee Co, both sponsors of this event. Including how to contact local people who will provide some cultural input.
